Getting started
This page covers getting into jtWMS: creating your organisation’s account, signing in, joining an organisation you’ve been invited to, and getting back in when you’ve forgotten your password.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need no permissions to sign up, sign in or reset a password.
- To join an existing organisation, you need an invitation link from one of its administrators.
Sign up and choose a plan
Section titled “Sign up and choose a plan”Signing up creates a new organisation in jtWMS, with you as its first user.
- Open the jtWMS web app. It opens on the sign-up page.
- Under Choose your plan, click Select on the plan you want. The chosen plan shows a Selected badge. The free plan is selected to begin with.
- Click Next →.
- Under Create your account, fill in:
- Company name — required, up to 200 characters.
- First name and Last name — required, up to 100 characters each.
- Work email — required, and must be a valid email address. You sign in with it.
- Password and Confirm password — see Password rules.
- Country (optional) — a two-letter country code, such as
US. - Also create a sandbox with sample data — tick it to try jtWMS in a sandbox, a practice copy of your organisation, before setting up your own warehouse.
- Click Create account. To change the plan first, click ← Back.
If an account already exists for the email address, the page says so: sign in instead.
You become your organisation’s Tenant Admin, which holds every permission in jtWMS.
Save your first API key
Section titled “Save your first API key”When your account is created, the page shows Your account is ready! and your organisation’s first API key. Other systems use an API key to call the jtWMS API on your organisation’s behalf.
- Click the copy icon next to the key to copy it.
- Store it somewhere safe, such as a password manager or a secrets vault.
- Click Continue to setup. You’re already signed in, and the setup wizard opens. If you asked for a sandbox, the button reads Continue to your sandbox instead: your sandbox is created and opens, and its sample data starts loading on its dashboard.
If jtWMS couldn’t sign you in straight away, the button reads Continue to sign in: sign in as below.
The key is named Default API Key and can only read data: it holds the permissions of the Read-Only API Client role. The page also shows the key’s prefix, which identifies the key in lists without revealing it.
Section titled “Sign in”- On the Sign in to your account page, enter your Email and Password.
- Click Sign in.
If the email or password is wrong, the page says The email or password is incorrect. If the app can’t reach jtWMS, it asks you to check your connection and try again. To create a new organisation instead, click Sign up at the foot of the page.
The sign-in page sometimes shows a message explaining why you were signed out:
- Your permissions have changed. Please sign in again to continue. An administrator changed your roles or permissions. Signing in again picks up the change.
- Your session has expired. Please sign in again. You were away long enough for your session to end.
- Your password has been reset. Sign in with your new password. You’ve just set a new password.
Your organisation’s own address
Section titled “Your organisation’s own address”Where jtWMS is hosted with an address per organisation, your organisation has one of its own, such
as acme.wms.example.com. It’s made from your company name when you sign up, so it’s yours from the
start.
- From the main address: you can sign up and sign in there as usual. Once you’re signed in, or when you continue after sign-up, jtWMS takes you to your organisation’s address, still signed in.
- Bookmark your organisation’s address: you can sign in there directly next time.
- The wrong organisation’s address: you can’t sign in there. The page tells you your own organisation’s address, but only after your email and password were right.
- Platform administrators sign in at the main address.
Accept an invitation
Section titled “Accept an invitation”An administrator in your organisation can invite you. jtWMS emails you the invitation link (an administrator may also send it to you another way).
- Open the invitation link. The page shows Accept your invitation, with the organisation’s name and the email address you were invited as.
- Enter your First name and Last name.
- Enter a Password and type it again in Confirm password. See Password rules.
- Click Create account.
jtWMS creates your account and signs you in. Your roles are the ones the administrator chose when inviting you.
If the page says This invite link is invalid or has expired., ask the administrator for a new invitation. Invitations expire after seven days by default.
Reset a forgotten password
Section titled “Reset a forgotten password”- On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?.
- Enter your Email and click Send reset link.
- Open the email jtWMS sends you and follow its link.
- On the Set a new password page, enter your New password and type it again in Confirm new password.
- Click Set new password. You return to the sign-in page, where you sign in with the new password.
The confirmation after step 2 is the same whether or not an account exists for the address, so it doesn’t reveal who has an account. If no email arrives, check your spam folder or try again.
Password rules
Section titled “Password rules”Every password in jtWMS must have:
- at least 10 characters;
- an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter;
- a digit;
- a special character, one that isn’t a letter or a digit.
Where you land after signing in
Section titled “Where you land after signing in”jtWMS has two apps, and you land in the one that fits your permissions:
- The admin app, which opens on the Dashboard, if you can change
anything: that is, if you hold at least one
.managepermission other thaninventory.movements.manage,inventory.count_tasks.manage,routing.operations.manageandinbound.receiving.manage. Tenant Admins and Warehouse Managers land here. If your organisation has no facility yet and you can create one, you land on the setup wizard instead. - The worker app, the phone-sized app for the warehouse floor, if your permissions only let you view, or view, move and count stock. Operators land here.
You can switch between them at any time. In the admin app, click Worker app in the header. In the worker app, click Open admin app, which is shown only to people who can use the admin app.
